The first editor of The Puppet Master was Arthur Peterson. Despite paper shortages and costs in the immediate post-war years, he successfully produced four issues a year and established the magazine as a journal of record of both the Guild activity and British puppetry in general which is still the aim today more than 60 years later. These early issues make fascinating reading of an age gone by but not forgotten and interested readers may download these in pdf form.

These are not fully searchable PDFs, but rather they are scans of the actual pages showing original layout, typeface, photographs and illustrations. There is valuable technical information as well as fascinating historical material in this feast of puppet info which should be in your library. We make a small charge to non-members. Each download file costs £1 sterling [but Guild members may download them for FREE from the members only section – another good reason to join the Guild!]
